Essex Police Department to Welcome Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission to Conduct On-Site Assessment

Chief Paul Francis is pleased to announce that a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission is scheduled to visit the Essex Police Department next month to begin examining various aspects of the agency’s policies and procedures, operations and facilities for re-accreditation. The assessors arrive on Oct. 12 and will conclude their work on Oct. 14. (This is an updated press release that reflects new Essex Board of Health rules requiring masks in all municipal buildings.) Police Chief Paul Francis and Fire Chief Ramie Reader are pleased to announce that the Essex Police and Fire Departments will host an open house at the town’s new public safety building, and that a time capsule will be opened during the event as well.  Both departments moved into their new home at 11 John Wise Ave. in May, but delayed holding an open house due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Police Advisory Regarding COVID-19 Closures: Conomo Point

The decision was made this week by the Board of Health and Board of Selectmen to close Conomo Point to seasonal residents and only allow permanent year-round Essex residents onto the property. This decision was made by our town officials out of an abundance of caution to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
