Police Department to Take Part in Training at MERMHS on Saturday

The Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea public safety departments notify the public that they will be participating in training at Manchester Essex Regional Middle High School on Saturday, April 13.

Active Shooter Event Response (ASHER) training will begin at 9 a.m. Residents should be aware that there will be increased public safety and law enforcement presence in the area near the school during the training session.

This drill is a part of routine interdepartmental training, which will reinforce important teamwork and communication skills among the departments during a high-risk response.

Police will be using department radios to simulate real-life scenarios during training. Community members who may follow scanners are asked to remain calm as this is part of the exercise.

As always in the case of an emergency, please call 911.
